UnitedHealthcare Motion® is an innovative program that lets you earn money for out-of-pocket medical expenses by moving. You are paid to take steps toward good health. What could be more motivating?
This program gives you more power to manage your health-care costs. You and an enrolled spouse each have the opportunity to earn annual financial rewards for things like copays, prescriptions, and deductibles.
You get a complimentary activity tracker that works with a free mobile app and online account. Wear your activity tracker every day and earn money for each goal you achieve.
By regularly meeting 3 daily FIT goals, you'll understand the value that comes from being intentional about how you move throughout each day. The simple act of moving can be hugely rewarding—physically, mentally, and financially.
A good recipe for healthy eating is to spread your meals throughout the day with the right balance of nutrients. Similarly, there is a recipe for healthy activity. Step count is one ingredient, but frequency and intensity of movement are significant contributors to good health, too.
The 3 daily goals we've developed are based on this need to move with frequency, intensity, and tenacity. Our FIT goals, and the rewards that result from achieving them regularly, set UnitedHealthcare Motion® apart from (and above) other programs.
Goal: Take six brief walks over the course of your day, at least an hour apart. (For each walk, you just need 300 steps within 5 minutes.1)
Benefit: Working out for an hour a day can still leave you with elevated risk of abnormal cholesterol and high blood sugar if you spend the majority of your day sitting. Moving around throughout the day reduces risk factors for metabolic and cardiac health.
Goal: Move with intensity for 30 continuous minutes a day by walking or tracking your favorite activity on your activity tracker.
Benefit: A regular moderately intense activity has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and increase focus. It also reduces risk factors for cardiovascular, metabolic, bone, and mental health as well as cancer.
Goal: Take at least 10,000 steps in a day. (The activity tracker will reset at midnight.)
Benefit: Consistently reaching this step-count goal promotes general health, increases energy, and facilitates weight loss.

Form small walking groups or teams. Challenge your friends and make it fun. (Once you've created an account, go to the Rankings dashboard to see how everyone stacks up.)
Time yourself and check your step count while walking around the building or neighborhood, and then create walking maps that support your goals.
Use your time away from work to stroll with a companion—it can even strengthen the relationship.
Your activity tracker records FIT-goal achievements and displays your progress. The FIT-goal data is uploaded to your online account via the app. You can see how you're doing whenever you want from your personal dashboard (on the app or by logging into your account on a computer).
